It had been 16 years since my tumbled travertine floor had been laid, and despite my best efforts it was in desperate need of a professional clean, especially the grouting. Maintenance to you Victorian floor is very important 

At some point in time your Edwardian Victorian floor will require some professional attention for the cleaning, polishing and sealing. This could be due to loss of shine and clarity in the floor, scratches, grout damage, irremovable traffic patterns, problem staining or any other defect which cannot be remedied by general cleaning alone. This process could involve using specialist cleaning products, machinery and skills.

These types of Victorian geometric, encaustic tile floors are durable clay that can withstand even the heaviest of foot traffic and soiling. Edwardian tiled floors that have been installed over 70 years ago can be restored to their former glory as you can see in these pictures and video above.

Our 7 steps to successful cleaning process:

  • We respectfully request that the flooring area to be cleaned and restored is completely empty of all furniture, unless by previous arrangement
  • On arrival we carry out a full risk assessment, then discuss any issues
  • The first stage of the process is a full audit of the flooring highlighting and identifying any possible pre-existing damage or problem areas that will require special treatment.
  • When happy we mask up and protect all areas, skirts etc. as prevention is always better.
  • We then fully clean the tile floor with relevant cleaning products and the right equipment system to achieve the best results.
  • We then seal the flooring once it is fully dry, this can take up to 2-5 days
  • We repeat the sealing process 3 to 5 times as applicable.
